Reporting to the Actuarial Director, with a strong working relationship with the Head of Performance & Exposure Management, the Senior Pricing Actuary will play a key role in developing and enhancing the actuarial pricing capabilities. The role will support sustainable underwriting performance and risk-based decision-making by developing pricing models, strengthening pricing governance and providing independent actuarial insight. Working across Actuarial, Underwriting and Exposure Management, the role will ensure pricing reflects portfolio performance, exposure, financial objectives and regulatory expectations.

To be successful in the role you will be accountable for:
Pricing & Portfolio Management
- Develop and deliver the annual Member pricing exercise and manage pricing models across relevant lines of business.
- Review pricing tools completed by underwriters and provide technical price recommendations for large individual submissions.
- Ensure pricing reflects claims experience, exposure trends, expenses, reinsurance costs, capital requirements and risk appetite.
- Monitor and report on portfolio performance and pricing adequacy, identifying opportunities for correction or improvement.
- Balance financial performance, Member fairness, retention and market competition across Member and non-Member pricing.
- Ensure pricing reflects exposure insights, risk accumulation and portfolio mix.
- Provide insight on catastrophe and large loss exposure and concentration risk.
- Align pricing outputs with the risk appetite and capital considerations.
- Provide independent actuarial insight to support underwriting strategy, business planning and performance monitoring.
- Support product development, new cover offerings and wider strategic initiatives within Underwriting.
- Work collaboratively across Actuarial, Underwriting and Exposure Management.
- Support the wider Actuarial function with reserving, capital and Solvency II deliverables.
- Qualified actuary.
- Robust technical knowledge of general insurance pricing techniques, processes and analytical systems, preferably within Commercial Lines.
- Experience working with Underwriting and Portfolio Management teams.
- Excellent numerate and analytical skills with the technical ability to command and understand complex data, statistics, actuarial modelling and pricing methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to influence key stakeholders, both internally and externally, and a strong ability to translate technical outputs to a non-technical audience
