The Financial Risk Analyst will support the delivery of a robust Risk Management Framework and will be involved in providing expert input and second line oversight in relation to the financial and insurance risk activities undertaken by the business. You will be a part-qualified actuary and will report to the Head of Risk.
 
Key aspects of role
 
Risk Management Framework & Governance
·Proactively support the delivery, implementation and on-going operation of the Risk Management Framework particularly as it relates to financial and insurance risk
·Support the annual review of the solvency, liquidity, investment and insurance risk appetites to ensure they remain fit for purpose on an ongoing basis
·Provide oversight and support to the business to ensure that the financial and insurance risks are kept within risk appetite
·Drive and develop the effectiveness of risk management through risk review, challenge, and independent opinion of key business decisions including, but not limited to: capital management, ALM, investments, reinsurance arrangements, underwriting appetite changes, new products and propositions, and pricing proposals.
 
Risk Management Processes
·Provide pro-active oversight and challenge of the business’s capital and liquidity management processes.
·Provide pro-active oversight and challenge of the business’s pricing, reinsurance, underwriting and reserving processes
·Support the delivery of the ORSA including: defining the stresses/scenarios to be considered, reviewing the capital plan and the results of stress and scenario testing, reviewing the ORSA Policy, drafting the ORSA Report and compiling the ORSA Record.
·Support the annual review of the Recovery Plan
·Undertake thematic reviews as required in relation to both current and emerging risks
·Independently review and challenge the adequacy of, and progress against, mitigation / ‘route to green’ action plans.
 
Regulatory Engagement & Reporting
·Provide high quality risk reporting to the Asset-Liability Committee and other relevant Committees on behalf of the Head of Risk
·Support regulatory risk reporting as necessary.
 
1st Line / Management Support
·Review, challenge and initiate improvements to the management and optimisation of risk, to support profitable growth.
·Act as a consultant, challenger and coach to the business and its senior management, helping them to make good risk-based decisions for the benefit of our customers and shareholders. 
·Review and challenge of all aspects of the financial and insurance risk profile to support management in their understanding, assessment and management of risk to help make better business decisions and ensure business objectives are met.
 
Risk Analytics
·Drive wider risk activity and reporting as required from time-to-time, including through innovation and analytics initiatives.
 
Skills & Experience Required
• Part-qualified Actuary.
• Experience and knowledge of financial risk and insurance risk
• Understanding of the broad spectrum of risks facing complex general insurance businesses including operational, capital management, ALM, investments, claims reserving, underwriting, pricing and reinsurance.
• Agility to flex style and apply skills in a wide range of situations.
• Demonstrable ability to rapidly absorb new information and identify key issues.
• A self-starter with the ability to innovate is proactive and works in a collaborative environment.
• Relevant financial services sector experience and experience of working in a regulated environment.
• Sound understanding of Financial Services / Insurance business environment / operations.
• Excellent communication both written and oral together with questioning skills.
