Our client is seeking a highly proactive individual with a hands-on approach to continue the build out of the investment function. This is an exciting opportunity for an engaged and creative individual, to make a real impact at a pivotal time in our client’s growth plans.
Purpose of this role
Providing oversight and contributing to the definition and execution of investment strategy of our Reinsurance business.  The role will work closely with the Head of Investments and CFO. The candidate will also work closely with our outsourced investment management provider, the investment teams within Group and other subsidiaries, as well as with other Group functions.
Key Contribution Areas:
  • Regular reviews of the Strategic Asset Allocation in line with policies
  • Ongoing oversight of asset exposures and ALM positioning and provision of insight to management and other functions
  • Production of relevant management information and co-ordination of material for relevant committees.
  • Liaison with the investment manager and oversight and development of reporting
  • Review of new investment proposals and ongoing valuation methodology
  • Regular review of due diligence performed on investment managers
  • Assist other functions with analysis of investment exposures and performance
  • Contribute to regulatory compliance via engagement with auditors and support of documentation of regulatory treatment of assets
  • Maintenance of relevant policies and process documentation
Functional or Technical Knowledge and Skill Required:
  • Strong knowledge of typical investment asset classes
  • Experience in asset-liability management principles and techniques
  • Experience in managing and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with risk-based capital regimes such as Solvency II and/or Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet and its impact on asset allocation
  • Likely to be a qualified actuary or other similar/relevant qualification (e.g. CFA)
