Valuation & Reserving Actuary | Reinsurance

We are looking to hire an Actuary to join our EMELA Reserving Life & Health (L&H) team.  The reserving team provides the opportunity for exposure to a wide variety of valuation and actuarial corporate topics. You will be expected to make a significant contribution to the management and monitoring of a large and strategic portfolio of long and short term protection products in EMELA.
 
About the role
Your responsibilities will include assisting on the following:

• Production of quarterly reserves on applicable bases (USGAAP LDTI, FR GAAP, SII, VIF,…)
• Preparation and sign-off of the Solvency II results including the shocks and Analysis of Change together with the GAAP / statutory accounting.
• Preparation of supporting documentation (unit testing, basis checks etc.) to validate work produced to line manager & auditors.
• Drafting of the Annual Assumption Review of base mortality and morbidity, disability termination rates, morbidity deterioration, mortality improvements, lapses and other relevant assumptions on the portfolio.
• Provide insight into observed experience, propose base changes where relevant and quantify financial impacts.
• Ensure a robust control framework by automation of validations
• Contribute to various cross-functional projects, topics and responsibilities across the team including tool development among others

About you:
 
Working experience

• Recently qualified actuary
• Detailed knowledge of one or more reporting regimes or standards (FR GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS 4 or 17, Solvency II, ...)

Technical skills

• Understanding of the FR GAAP, Solvency II framework
• US GAAP LDTI experience is a plus
• Knowledge of a modelling tool – inhouse, Axis, RAFM, Prophet etc…
• Reinsurance knowledge is an asset

 Personal and communication

• Organized, able to work in a matrix structure
• Able to set and manage priorities 
• Highly cooperative, flexible, and enthusiastic team-player
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French is a plus)
• Keen to work with other cultures and able to think outside the box in a dynamic environment
