We currently have a vacancy for Actuarial Manager (General Insurance) in the Risk Analytics, Data Analytics and Reporting Division of our client.
 
The purpose of the role is to lead the Actuarial Analytics team, which creates, develops, and delivers actuarial analyses of insurance industry data to contribute to the monitoring and assessment of reserving, pricing and capital risks within the insurance market.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and development of the Actuarial Analysis team through effective direction, delegation, performance management and coaching to ensure all staff members can achieve the required performance standards and meet their own career development objectives
  • Lead the completion of multi-firm analysis across non-life, life and reinsurance undertakings (including pricing and reserving reviews, capital assessments and balance sheets analyses) in order to fully support the effective supervision of the regulated insurance industry in Ireland.
  • Drive the ethos of knowledge sharing by developing and maintaining productive relationships with internal teams, proactively collaborating with them in order to ensure these teams are sufficiently informed on the relevant conclusions of your actuarial analysis.
  • In conjunction with the colleagues, lead external engagements with senior stakeholders and, through constructive dialogue and challenge, identify critical issues.
  • Provide market wide actuarial analysis, including input into Risk Assessments and Risk Governance Panels, to inform the Senior Management team on current issues and themes. 
  • Develop innovative approaches to analyse and present regulatory reporting data to produce actionable insights for stakeholders. Identify and address gaps in insurance regulatory reporting data.  
Requirements:
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (either the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or the Society of Actuaries in Ireland) is an indispensable condition of the tenure of the employment.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Strong people management, coaching and leadership skills
  • Good background in non-life insurance/reinsurance with a sound understanding of risk management and risk-based supervision.
  • Deep knowledge of the developing regulatory, supervisory and reporting requirements for the insurance industry in Ireland.
  • An appreciation of wider regulatory frameworks, including international regimes and standards.
  • Extensive understanding/experience of the (re)insurance business and the practical operation of (re)insurance companies.
  • Strong analytical skills, with practical experience in database querying (SQL) and programming languages (R, Python) a distinct advantage.
  • An ability to research and summarise large volumes of information and data and draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills – ability to produce speedy and coherent actuarial analysis. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; in particular the ability to relate to senior management and staff.
