Managing Director | Masters Trusts

Description of the business units
The two companies are trustees to two Master Trusts, which currently hold c.€3.9 billion in assets for more than 95k members. Both companies are led by a Board made up of independent directors and a Group director.
 
Purpose of the role
The Managing Director will lead the pension trustee companies, ensuring effective oversight of the management of the master trusts. The MD will ensure compliance by the trustee company with relevant laws, regulations, and Codes.
 
Key Accountabilities
The role includes:

• Leading a team of 11 staff
• Leading the design and implementation of business plans for the trustee companies, adapting to any new regulatory requirements
• Liaising with the Pensions Authority
• Communicating with stakeholders in the Group to ensure effective management of the Master Trusts and focus on members' interests.
• Communicating effectively with Board members, ensuring the Board is supported, well informed and empowered to make decisions. Ensure the Board's decisions are effectively implemented. Ensure the content of Board meetings meets the Board's requirements.
• Communicating with employers and advisors, providing updates on trustee oversight of the Master Trusts
• Overseeing the financial and operational management of the trustee companies
• Overseeing the governance framework, including risk management and internal audit
• Representing the company at industry forums 

Essential Skills and Experience

• The ideal candidate will have experience as a company director, or experience working with Boards of Directors at a senior level.
• The candidate is required to have a comprehensive understanding of the pensions business includes all relevant regulations, with a focus on Master Trusts and in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities of trustees.
• They will have at least 10 years industry experience with a successful track record in senior management positions.
• Uses sound logic and takes effective action by adopting a long-term commercial and strategic perspective.
• Demonstrable experience leading high performing teams
• Experience in building and leading diverse executive teams, engendering an ambitious high-performance culture.
• Proven ability to work through appropriate governance structures partnering with Board, Group, Regulatory and external stakeholders.
• Strong relationships with regulatory and industry professional bodies.
