Overall Purpose:
 
Part of a team of seven and reporting directly to the Head of Underwriting, the Pricing & UnderwritingAnalyst is responsible for handling business opportunities and fostering client relationships throughout the underwriting process.  This is a broad role that will suit an individual who enjoys a hands-on challenge and is willing to take on a wide range of tasks including those with a numerical focus.
 
Additionally the natural hazards Pricing & Underwriting Analyst shall be the expert for the quotation and risk management of business exposed to natural hazards. 
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
 
Natural Hazards Modelling 
  • Analysis of the Group's worldwide catastrophe business using licensed and proprietary natural hazards simulation models
  • Participating in projects and working groups
Underwriting / Pricing / Negotiation 
Responsible for general Underwriting responsibilities and ongoing negotiations as follows:
  • Discuss possible structures
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessment
  • Negotiate terms and conditions
  • Regular liaison with various departments within home office
Marketing and Customer Relationship Management
Ensure effective management of client relationships with both existing and potential clients, both internal and external, as follows:
  • Attend industry conferences when appropriate
  • Attend client visits and group internal meetings as required
Underwriting Processes and Guidelines
Ensure adherence to Underwriting Processes
 
Education:
  • Primary degree in a statistical, mathematics and/or or business-related discipline
Experience Required:
  • Previous experience within a Reinsurance / Financial Services company a plus
  • Sound understanding of (re)insurance beneficial
Skills:
  • Proven analytical and technical capability with an innovative, creative approach to client solutions
  • Leadership potential – willingness to mentor, train and develop team members
  • Good attention to detail, accuracy and numerical skills
  • A highly organised individual with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - ability to effectively manage internal and external client relationships
  • Independent critical thinker – challenges current business practices & thinks outside the box
